TrsToSlt

Converts Transcriber .trs files to SALT .slt transcripts

The Transcriber ‘Program’ becomes the SALT ‘Context’ header.

The first Transcriber ‘Topic’ becomes the SALT ‘Subgroup’ header.

Comments at the beginning of transcript that start with + become SALT meta-data headers.

By default Transcriber ‘pronounce’ and ‘lexical’ events are converted to be certain SALT word codes, of the form “[PRONOUNCE:…]” and “[LEXICAL:…]” respectively. Noise events are converted to comments of the form “{NOISE:…}”. Use the command-line switches –pronounceCodePattern, –lexicalCodePattern, and –noiseCommentPattern to control this behaviour.

e.g. if you specify –pronounceCodePattern=WP:{0} then all pronounce events will become word codes like [WP:…]

Similarly if you specify –pronounceCodePattern=WL:{0} then all lexical events will become word codes like [WL:…].

To disable these conversions, use “–pronounceCodePattern= –lexicalCodePattern= –noiseCommentPattern=” on the command line.

Named entity annotations are assumed to be proper names, which are underscore-delimited in the resulting SALT transcript.

Phrase language annnotations are lost during conversion, as there is no corresponding entity in the SALT conventions.

The format for dates is taken from your system settings; to override this, use the –dateFormat command line setting.
